Applying for NHI Card
When you applying for a health insurance card, there may be the following four situations

New students who have resided in Taiwan for less than 6 months
Because of the regulations of NHI, new students are required to stay for 6 months after receiving ARC to be eligible for applying NHI card.The calculation method of the Health Insurance Plus Day is provided below this page for reference
In order to ensure the safety of students, it is recommended that new students apply for group injury and illness medical insurance before they are unable to participate in health insurance, which is similar to health insurance. -
New students who have been in Taiwan for 6 months
Please go to the Office of International Affairs with ARC and a 2-inch photo to handle the transfer of health insurance and IC card application, and the International Affairs Office will assist students in handling the matters of verification and card making , and then notify the students to collect the card at the OIA after the production is completed.
P.S. If you are already eligible for health insurance, please inform the Staff of the International Affairs Office in advance to assist in the preparation and issuance of the payment slip and pay the registration fee within the payment deadline. -
Have already applied for insurance in another section and want to transfer to the school for insurance
Please go to the original insured unit (e.g. the Chinese Language Center of NPTU, District Affairs Office) to handle the health insurance transfer out first. After obtaining the health insurance transfer certificate or transfer out certificate, taking the original insurance unit transfer certificate to OIA to handle the health insurance transfer matter, and then go to the Cashier Division to make up the fee. -
Have already applied for insurance in another section and will not to transfer to the school for insurance
Please inform OIA officer and check when paying tuition and miscellaneous fees to avoid duplicate payments.
How to count the days of joining the insurance
Enter Taiwan with Resident Visa, and it will start since your entry date; for those with Visitor Visa or entry permit, it will only start from the date the visa has transferred to resident visa.
- Without any departure after entering: Start from the entry date+6 months
- Depart for once within 30 days: Start from the entry date+6 months + departure days
- Depart for once over 30 days: The resident days would start all over again, which means to start from the latest entry date and the rule would be followed as 1 or 2.
